5 Prints From Leonetto Cappiello

Leonetto Capiello left Italy in search of artistic recognition. He would soon return with not art, but war; more specifically, World War I, where he was forced to serve as interpreter for the Italians.

After the war, he finally found his success in making advertisements for various liquor, cigarette, and espresso brands. His unique style of centering vibrant caricatures before black to bleak scenery could be seen as a portrait for Capiello’s life; no matter the background, he always put his passion in the forefront.
